How can you resist a plant with such a wonderful name? This 1997 introduction was awarded the Mary Swords DeBallion Medal in 2005…the highest honor for a Louisiana iris. Iris ‘Red Velvet Elvis’ produces 3′ tall spikes of large flowers made up of ruby falls with a brilliant strike of orangey-yellow and mauve standard starting in early May…a hummingbird favorite.
