Iris, Purple Flame
Iris, versicolor ‘Purple Flame’

Aubergine-purple tinted foliage when emerging each spring eventually fades to medium green as the weather warms. Classic “Blue Flag Iris” flowers are borne on dark purple stems for two surprising twists on one plant. A chance mutation found and propagated from the wild by Mt. Cuba Center Botanical Gardens in Delaware. Mother Nature one-ups herself.
