MN Native plant Smooth Petunia

Native range includes southern MN, this very pest and disease-free plant prefers rich open woods and borders of streams and ponds.  Each 2” lilac-lavender flower resembling a petunia, lasts only a day but the bloom period of the plant is exceedingly long from May through September.  It will live in deep shade, but produces fewer blooms.  A nice care-free plant for the edge of the pond.  Will self-seed.
