Blue Vervain
Verbena hastata

Moisture-loving plant typically found in moist meadows and along streams. The deep blue-violet flower spikes are a highlight of the midsummer meadow, and remain blooming for up to 2 months. Individual plants are biennial, but may colonize slowly by rhizomes from the fibrous root system. Standing water is not tolerated but okay for short periods like a rain garden.
