Red Leaf Plantain
Plantago major rubrifolia

A beautiful clump of purple crinkled leaves that turn a stunning maroon in the fall. Yes, it is related to the common plantain lawn weed, but this is so much better. Cut off the insignificant green seed spikes to prevent seeding, and you will enjoy this pretty and neat plant for many years. Can be grown in wet to moist garden soil, or along the edge of the pond or stream. Add some color with foliage that stays strong, preferring cooler partly shady conditions.
Size: 10-14 inches
