Water Poppy
Hydrocleys nymphoides
Best planted 4-8″ deep (but can handle 12” deep) where it will grow to a nice floating dense mat of shiny round green leaves and golden yellow poppy-like flower. Plants sited in pond margins will spread out onto the water and it does well mixed with taller plants to conceal containers just barely submerged on ledges. A great place for frogs to hang out. Warm water required, water temps should be constantly 65 or better. A favorite food of turtles.
