Why Join?
Minnesota’s only water garden society includes hundreds of members with thousands of years of combined knowledge and experience. Our members come from all over the greater Twin Cites and surrounding states. We provide an environment for learning and sharing our love for water gardening. Come learn from our experience! Some members build their own ponds, some hire it out; all have learned how to maintain a pond with minimum effort.
Members include master gardeners, garden designers, landscapers, horticulturalists, lily growers, experts on container water gardening, pondless features, care of fish and more. Years of passion and a love for all facets of gardening and outdoor spaces bring us together each month for laughter, learning, and sharing. New members can take advantage of our “Pond Pal” program!

A few years back we purchased the home of our dreams. Careful planning, a ton of research, and a lot of answered questions from MWGS has brought us to the point that we are ready to build our first pond, falls, and stream. The “Pond Pal” program has been instrumental in guiding us through the do’s and don’ts in preparing our backyard oasis for our family of six!
After visiting the Pond tours for two summers in a row, we knew building a pond was the final exclamation point we needed to complete our backyard! 3 Ponds and 2 pools later, we have learned an incredible amount from this wonderful organization and the sharing of information from its members. Our only regret is that we should have joined sooner!
As a member, and now President of this organization, I have seen the wealth of knowledge, sharing, and joy that this club has brought to the thousands of people we have encountered along the way. These memberships have changed yards for the better, enriched lives, & created friendships to last a life time. It is an honor to serve on their board and nurture a passion that grows within all of us.
