Calla Lily, Giant Spotted
Zantedeschia aethiopica
This 3-foot-tall and 2-foot-wide plant has spectacular showy large white flowers—up to 10 inches long—that surround a creamy yellow fingerlike centerpiece. They bloom from late spring to mid-summer. The upright, arrow-shaped leaves are solid green and glossy, making this quite the show in the garden. Giant calla lilies are able to grow at cooler temperatures than other callas (50°F), are slower to go dormant, and can tolerate wet conditions. This plant can be grown as a marginal aquatic. Although tropical, it will winter well indoors as a houseplant.
