Monkey Flower, Lavender
Mimulus ringens
A profusion of lavender snap dragon-like flowers blooms along the stem of this Minnesota Native. Tall stems with medium, elongated leaves growing up the stem. The blooming period can be extended for months by cutting back soon after the first bloom, which will keep the plant fuller, and prevent stems from flopping over. Plant near the edge of the pond with water +/-4 inches from the crown, or plant in damp or wet humus soil. Good for a rain garden too. Can be planted in natural waterways.
