Native to SW USA, Yerba Mansa has woolly stems, rooting as they grow along the surface, with large, waxy, dull-green leaves forming an unusual, solid ground cover. Spikes of unusual whitish flowers occur at the top of the flowering stem with a fairly long bloom period late spring through summer. The plant exudes a unique fragrance on warm days. Although not rated to zone 4, one of our members has kept a large mass growing in her bog garden with no winter protection. Must be kept wet. Grows well in alkaline soils.
